10th Congressional District Debate

Statement

Date: Oct. 30, 2014

I want to share the video of the WVIA debate.

The evening proved that my two opponents prefer to bicker with each other rather than speak directly to the important issues that we face. It is easy to see that they do not understand this is the problem with the current congress. I tried to remain focused on answering questions.

Important take away: -
Tom Marino could not point to anything specific he has done for the 10th district (not even prepare or dress properly for the debate.) He claimed credit for a new VA Hospital in Honesdale, but I pointed out that it is actually a clinic and Chris Carney had been the federal mover to help veterans and Wayne county officials make it a reality.

Nick Troiano was well dressed and prepared for the debate, but he still thinks that we have to cut social security benefits. His "small technical" change to COLA adjustments would result in $28,000 in reduced benefits to a senior who lives to be 90 with a greater impact every year thereafter.

Neither opponent seemed to think that the environment or natural gas development were important to the district. You would almost think they had both spent the last four years in Washington, D.C., Oh wait,...
